A Memorable Holiday
19 September 2013
A Memorable Holiday Christmas has always been my favorite holiday since I was a little kid. It wasn’t just the gifts that I got it was all the good time my family had during the holiday season. We would always make a ginger bread house and we would always have homemade cookies in the house during this time. We would also decorate a tree that we picked from the local fire department. One year when I was eight years old I had a memorable Christmas. We got our tree a little later than we usually get it. It was also a bigger one then we usually get three days before Christmas I came home from my piano practice and my mom and my granddad were sitting in my living room looking awfully disappointed. I knew there was something wrong when I looked to where we kept the tree it was coved in glass and pines from the tree. The tree had fallen over! I was very upset all of our Christmas ordainments had broken. After an hour or two of grieving over it my mom said we will just go to the dollar store and get a new star and more ordainments. I really didn’t like this idea because I thought the ordainments were going to be ugly. Once we got there my mom got ribbons and a star and told my brother and I to get a few ordainments. We got the ordainments and I didn’t like any of them. Once we got home we stared to put the ordainments on the tree. Once they were all on the tree looked better then it did before. I was very excited. And three days later I saw all of my presents under my dollar store tree. It was a very memorable Christmas

The snow continued throughout the rest of the day and the next day. The following day once it stopped snowing my dad had an idea that we take some sleds and go on top of a hill and ride down it. We snowshoed to the top of the hill and we saw some deer, birds, raccoons on the way. Once we were at the top we tried to sled down but it wasn't steep enough to sled down and we got upset. We walked back home. Then a few hours later it was finally time to have thanksgiving dinner there was, a turkey, stuffing, steamed carrots and it was…

My brother and i used to love this we would cover in a giant blanket and watch cartoon movies in fact these are some of my best and most beautiful memories it was so peaceful. But as we got older and my mom and dad split we began to want to stay with them during the holidays but they would always go their separate ways to have a “good time”. As time went on we never spent it all together we either spent it with my mom or dad but, it still wouldn't matter cuz ma oldest brother was in haiti. When i got to the end of eighth grade and my brother came back we had one of the most memorable christmas ever not because of presents cause there was none it was they way we spent the night. I recall clearly the day I received the news my grandfather had passed away. My parents sat my brother and I down in the living room, and when I heard I remember staring blankly at the Christmas tree in the corner, at a loss for words. The flashing lights on the tree blurred as tears filled my eyes. I was only twelve, and the realization that I would never see my papa again was equally confusing, as it was heartbreaking. He had battled with lung cancer for months, and it was so disappointing how it all ended. My whole family spent many late nights at the hospital, and we all had hoped that he would have more time left. It was a hurtful loss, and he is still greatly missed, five years later. Looking back, however, I can now grasp how much the…

The method of concluding traits about a character is known as characterization, and it is when an author lets readers know any kind of information regarding the characters in a story. The two types of characterization are direct and indirect. Direct characterization occurs when an author directly states a trait of a character. Indirect, on the other hand, is used when the author shows a character 's trait through their actions, thoughts and speech, appearance, or that of another character. Truman Capote 's short story "A Christmas Memory", is about a young boy, referred to as "Buddy," and his best friend, or older cousin, who is unnamed in the story. As a tradition, the two friends bake fruitcakes and send the baked goods to acquaintances they have met only once or twice, and to people they have never met at all. They live in a house with other relatives, who are authoritative and stern, and have a dog named Queenie. As the two try to make the best of their Christmas, complications occur and Buddy is sent off to military school, thus making it their last Christmas together. Buddy 's friend would be characterized as: childish, kind, and religious.…

It was fun to be at my cousin's house, though they were all a lot older than me, because they had a wii, a trampoline, and some dogs, but I was also completely in the dark as to what happened, and I feared the worst. When my parents finally came, they told us the story of what had happened the night we went to my cousins. My grandfather had had enough, so he went out to his storage building with a handgun. My grandmother had gotten home, and she noticed him missing. Well aware of his condition and what he could do, she called my parents and the police.…

After our presents have been opened and the mess from all the wrapping paper and open boxes are cleaned up we go to the waffle house and chow down! Then we get together with our whole family and have christmas dinner and exchange presents.
