The Yoga Diet

For a long time now vegetarians were thought to be eating only boring foods and not getting enough of the proper vitamins and minerals. But in todays with the obesity and disorders that go along with it, people are more understanding of the veggie’s way of eating.
Statistically vegetarians have lowered chance of heart attach, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer, their immunitization to disease is better. Some studies provide evidence that a balanced vegetarian diet provides all the protein, minerals, and nutrients required for life. People can get all the protein form plants just like their herbivores.
The Yoga diet is one of five major Principles that Yoga consists. The energy is broken down into three qualities. They are:
1. Gunas – energy that exists together in equal balance
2. Settva- also known as purity; Rajas which means activity, passion, and the process of change
3. Tamas – darkness, inertia

These three energies are always present but one is dominant. How does this affect our eating? Well, let’s break it down a little more.

Sattivic Food
a. The purest diet
b. The most suitable one for any serious student of Yoga
c. Nourishes the body and maintains it in a peaceful state
d. Calms and purifies the mind, enabling It function at its maximum potential
e. Leads to true health; a peaceful mind in control of a fit body, with a balanced flow of energy between them
