Monologue “Shubs Shubs”

I had a best friend not long ago we grew up together from the age of four went nursery, primary and most of secondary together, we went on holidays together with each others family I called his mum, mum and he called my dad, dad. Not to mention we lived on the same road for the best part of 14years even through them hard times and played for the same football team he was always better though probably could have turned pro I think. I always had the upper hand in school though I was the smart sensible one out the two we used to be called the Oreo couple he was black and I’m white I always found it a funny joke. Che and Jordan everyone used to talk about us like some weird multi cultural couple him being Nigerian. Everyone knew him as Peps because of the unusually large gaps in his hair and when ever someone was tryin to be funny I would get the odd “whiteboi” as I was the only white person who used to chill in crescent. We lived in queens crescent not the best place to grow up as you would know if you’ve ever been there but we came out ok unlike most of them hood rats about. They weren’t all as bad as that though you kind of get used to the beef and everything else when you’ve lived around it so long. Trouble was nothing new along as it wasn’t to do with me or one of the ‘mandem’ as I was never really the type to start a fight. Jordan was though and so were a few of the other guys. The bottom line is I would have done anything for Jordan and he would have done the same for me.

We finished year 11 together happy and relieved looking at a three month summer holiday ahead of us. The first month and a half we was together most days doing whatever came along parties, drink-ups, nandos and the rest of it. But I was going to Spain for the last month and a half on my own which was a rare occasion but he could handle it, so I thought. The month and a half passed by and I arrived back home.
