Why I Want a Husband
I belong to that classification of people known as husbands. I am a husband. Not too long ago, while I was mowing the lawn, I was thinking about it and decided that I too, want a husband. Why do I want a husband? I want a husband whose whole life revolves around me. Everything he does or says should have some significance to me in one way or another. He should put me at the center of his life and I should always be first on his list. Not his friends, not his siblings, and definitely not his parents even though they probably mean a lot to him. I want a husband who will love me. Even when I am at my worst, patience with me should not run out. But of course if it’s the other way around, I have a right to get mad as I deal with worse stuff anyway. I want a husband who is very handsome, and no, he can’t be handsome just on the inside; he has to be handsome on the outside, as well. He has to have abs and muscles, but not too much because then it just looks weird, but just the perfect amount. I want a husband who is funny so I’ll be able to laugh a lot and have fun. I want a husband who is not lazy, but does what I tell him to do.
I want a husband who shovels the snow without any complaining. He should not ask me for help as I already have so many other things to do as it is. I want a husband who takes care of the lawn and everything outside our house. He should mow the lawn and set the sprinklers at the right times. Also, when something around the house breaks, my husband should be able to fix it.
I want a husband who takes out the garbage when its time because I will not be taking out any garbage at any time. I want a husband who likes to drive because he is going to drive me everywhere as my personal chauffeur. Also, when we go out I want him to fix the babysitting arrangements for the kids as I will be too busy with my other work to do all that.
I want a husband who will not complain about all his work to me because he knows he does

The following essay, “Why I Want a Wife,” appeared in Ms. Magazine in 1972 during the feminist movement in the United States. In this essay, Brady takes a satirical and humorous look at what it means to be a wife and mother. Brady was thinking of a longtime friend who appeared on the scene, fresh from a recent divorce and was looking for another wife (263). It was in that moment it occurred to Brady, as a wife and mother, which she also would like to have a wife. She first starts out by saying, “Why do I want a wife?” (263). She lists most of the duties, expectations and demands of the husband and society that are unfairly unjust to women and it is underappreciated and unrecognized.…

Starting with heart qualities love is very important no one wants to even start a relationship with someone they don’t think is capable of loving. Love is the ability of one person to be or at least strive to be self-less in regards to the one they claim to love. Love exudes patience, kindness and is just undeniably genuine. Another heart quality is empathy which is taking on a genuine care for your significant other and what they may be going through. Well lets see, to begin with I have a rather witticism sense of humor, this should make for interesting communication..As far as what I am looking for in a female relationship, I would have to say... I'm looking for a lady who's easy to talk to and one who is able to listen. Most of all, I'm looking for a kindhearted woman, someone who takes care of herself and knows what she's looking for. I like spontaneity although I must say it is not one of my strong points. It is something I admire in other at least within reason. I haven't actually meet anyone yet in person since I started dating online but I communicated with a few which didn't prevail much further and this is the only dating site I have sign on to.Nice of you to share…

In the contents of I Want A Wife, the author writes about the needs of man and how wife’s do it all, she also gives a list of stereotypical demands of marriage in the 70’s like cooking, cleaning, as well as childcare and, over all, being unpaid. “I want a wife to keep track of the children’s doctor and dentist appointments.” Brady expresses that a wife takes care of children’s and keeps everything organized while men do not have to do anything like that. Brady also expresses how a wife not only takes care of children but is also expected to do things that men don’t do. “I want a wife who will take care of my physical need. The second wave of the feminist movement in the United States began during early 1960's and lasted throughout late 1970's. The purpose of the feminist movement was to have a right to vote and have the same equal rights as male citizens. Judy Brady's essay "I Want A Wife" first appeared in the Ms. Magazine's inaugural issue in 1971. I believe that genre of the article is a classic piece of feminist humor and is depicted as satirical prose. In this essay Brady aims to convince her readers to look objectively at a man's viewpoints and expectations of what he thinks a wife is and what she should be. Brady skillfully uses clear arguments, repetition of key words, stylish language to make her essay strong and convincing.…

Men say that they want a woman to build with but why is she building alone while he frolics in the sun. If wives work a nine to five just like their husbands then the husband should be just as domesticated as his wife. Times have changed and women are not succumbing to the position of home maker anymore. Now a day’s women are solid with a take charge personality; which most men are fancy of. But even the most resilient woman can crumble after a hard day of work and then to come home to a husband watching sports while she has to cook, clean, tend to the kids,…

When I think of a person who is doing all the chores and tasks, such as laundry, cooking and cleaning that person no other than a wife. In my perspective, the idea of a partner is different to what Brady’s description. In Brady’s essay “I Want a Wife”, she describes the duties of the typical wife would have to do for the family. She explains that the wife is expected to take care of the house, the children and keeping husband satisfied in life such as; dealing with physical, mental, social and sexual needs (636). Compare to Brady’ description of a wife instead, the wife has to do all of the housework, my idea of a spouse is when taking care of housework, both husband and wife should help each others. Unlike to Brady’s wife, my type of wife should…

In today’s society the wife is seen as the member of the household that upkeeps the house and caters to other’s needs. Who wouldn’t want one of these of their own? In “I Want a Wife” the author Judy Brady sarcastically explains why everyone would want a wife. She begins with a story of how a friend of hers is newly single and he is looking for “a wife” although in reality he wants a servant; Brady then realizes that she too wants a wife of her own (Brady 542). The main points made in the essay are what the wife would do for the author such as household chores, taking care of children, catering to her friends and many other satirical duties. All the while several literary devices are used to enhance the article. She uses these elements to show sexist and selfish ideas of men that are prevalent in society. “I Want a Wife” efficiently reasons for how the male gender generalizes the role of a wife in a sexist way in our society by making use of ethos, logos, pathos, satire and repetition.…

Published in 1971, “I want a wife” written by Judy Brady illustrates successfully the role of women in marriage. Brady humorously mentions a wife’s duties which range from doing chores and tasks, such as laundry and cooking, to take care of the husband’s mental, physical, social, and sexual needs. The repetition of “I want a wife who will…” is used effectively to emphasis the husband’s selfishness. Brady is right when she lays out a list of what most women are expected do after getting married. She defines “a wife” as a hard worker, a maid, a nurse, a chef, an assistant, a host and a mother. She gives a fair view of the classic role of women in families. Throughout almost forty years, although everything has not changed completely, it has improved so much. Today, women become more independent and have a voice in families. Women, in some ways, are able to reach the equality between women and men.…
