Why Did I Get My Masters

I relocated to Austin, Texas in the summer of 2004 and immediately obtained an assistant coaching position in Yuma, Arizona. I decided to accept this position, with the understanding that once there I would receive financial assistance with graduate school. Upon arrival to the campus, I was informed that funding was cut for the football program and if I decided to stay and coach, graduate school would not be funded. I decided to stay for a semester and ultimately returned home. Once home, I struggled at obtaining employment and continuously thought about going back to school and obtaining my master’s degree. The problem was I did not know what subject to pursue. While deciding if I would attend graduate and where, I became a personal trainer. Throughout the year of training, I met a variety of people, most of whom successful business owners or who had achieved success as supervisors, CEO’s, or directors in the business/sports field. It was there I decided to pursue my master’s in business with a specialty in management.
When I made the decision to pursue my M.B.A., I knew it would be valuable in assisting me with achieving success in the world of sports. My goal is to one day become a head coach or an Athletic Director at a college or high school. By obtaining a degree in business administration, I will gain knowledge in supervising individuals, mediating problems/problem solving, budgeting, implementing policies and rules, learn terminology, and other key management skills to benefit me throughout my career. I will also be able to meet different people while in school that may become key contacts in my future.
While completing my master’s degree, I hope to gain experience in negotiating and mediating to assist my employees/business with coming up with the best solutions. In the business field I want to pursue, these are important characteristics that could be vital to my team and I’s success. I also hope to learn different problem solving...
