Why I Came Back

According to Wendy Croix, author of the article Will Getting an Education Pay for Itself, obtaining a higher education in an effort to increase salary potential is a pretty good gamble. As listed in her article,

“Associate degree holders average $8,000 a year more than their high school educated friends.

Workers with bachelor’s degrees make nearly $23,300 more a year than high school graduates.

Master's degree holders average $11,300 more a year than bachelor's degree holders.
Professionals with doctorates have annual incomes $37,265 higher than workers with bachelor's degrees.”

These statistics demonstrate the primary reason why I decided to pursuing a graduate education. However, how I decided to pursue my MBA was not quite so simple. Instead, it was plagued often with indecision and an overwhelming amount of information. As discussed below, it took a substantial amount of time to decide to acquire my graduate degree. Nevertheless, I am happy with my decision and expect to obtain a relatively high return on my educational investment by being able to expand my career opportunities over the next twenty years and inspire those in my family to pursue higher education themselves.
In the end, I believe that by taking at least a year to decide to go to graduate school and weighing the expected benefits of such an undertaking, I have made a good decision. Whether it is the “leg up” I may have in the job market or the inspiration I may provide to my family, according to Ms. Croix, the anticipated return on my educational investment will be well worth it.
