Water Resource Plan

Water Resource Plan

The water resource problem in the video was the fish stock in the ocean is declining. Some believe there will not be fish available for consumption and fishing in the future. The main cause of the declining fish stock is from overfishing. Fishing fleets have stripped the seas of 90% of all the big fish. Overfishing is more destructive to the ocean the toxic pollution or bad water quality. Some researchers say there needs to be a limit on overfishing. The off-limit approach means the fish stock is able to reproduce so there is more fish.
The problem of the declining fish stock needs to be fixed immediately. One solution is to put limits on the amount of fish that fishing fleets and commercial fishing boats can catch. This will help decrease the loss of the fish stock. This solution will not fix the decline overnight, but over time it will help.
Another solution would be to produce more fish farms. Fish farms or aquaculture would help in reproducing the depleted amounts of fish. Since aquaculture produces wastes that can pollute the ocean water and harm marine life, the aquacultures should be moved away from the coasts. In doing this, the coast lines will have less pollution but the cost to move offshore will increase.
Other problems that are causing the decline in the fish stock are: the demand for more fish for human consumption (protein) and technological advance to fish efficiently which causes every single fish is often removed from an area.
The plan that needs to be developed has to have benefits that maintain the ocean as sustainable source of food both economically and ecologically. The needs of the plan must ensure action will be taken if laws and proposals are not followed by the commercial fishermen and fishing fleets.
The plan needs to also reduce fishing capacity by capping the size of fishing fleets and reducing the number of fishing vessels over time....
