WATER RESOURCE PLAN PART A

There are many water resource issues that the world faces today. One major issue seen after watching the Declining Fish Stock VLR was over-fishing. Through out this paper over-fishing, the pros and cons of over-fishing along with possible solutions will be explained.
The water resource video problem shown in the Declining Fish Stock VLR video was over-fishing. Over-fishing can be defined as catching too many fish and not leaving enough to repopulate the colony causing a depletion of the population (Koster, 2007). This video goes over how there are some fish depletion, mostly swordfish and tuna, and looking for possible solutions to help save these fish and others from extinction. It was mentioned to have a “No Fishing Zones” in place. Fisherman Pete speaking for all fishermen stated that the fisherman would be hurt the most because this is their way of living. He does not believe that there is a decline in the fish because he is still catching the same amount of fish as before and stated that the ocean is big. Fisherman Pete disagrees with having “No Fishing Zones” because he feels that this policy will not address the issue. I disagree with his statement. I feel that the policy will address the issue and give some of these fish time to reproduce and increase the size in their population. Other solutions and studies are still being performed so that these sources will be available for future generations.
A plan that I would recommend would consist of the placing a limit on fisherman’s catch and land, enforcing a use of a technique or rule to prevent fishermen from unintentionally catching other ocean animals, protecting important habitats of the ocean from being harmed such as fish nursing grounds, delicate seafloors, and coral reefs (Koster, 2007). This policy will carefully be monitored and strongly enforced so that the fisherman will not try to cheat and fish over the amount than they are...
