Fishermen are in a crisis when overfishing occurs. This is when the fish is being caught faster than the fish in the ocean can reproduce, which is causing a big problem. It is reported in the video that at least 90% of the large fish population is declining which leave the fisherman with 10% for commercial fishermen to fight over. One could say, at one time that fish was at an all time high for productivity, but today, they are disappearing at a rapid high. The demand for fish grows with the growth of our population, and commercial fisherman cannot keep up with the supply and demand. Overfishing affects all works of life, and is causing major problems. It trickles down from the birds of the air to kitchen table.
A management and sustainment plan that I think would benefit both sides of the issues is to bring this problem before the Legislation, and to find out what would be their course of action. There would need to be an action plan set forth for commercial fisherman and large vessel boating that would prevent the fisherman from unnecessary killing of large fish. The gaming wardens would need to patrol more, by making frequent checks of commercial boats by making sure each boat is in compliance with state laws. By mandating this legal action of ocean water (commercial fishing) this step would reconstruct the ecosystem and perhaps put a stop to extinctions. And by taking this course, going to the Legislation, and fighting for all fisherman would not only bring about a change, but would make things even for the hard working fishermen that are out at the ocean trying to make a living for their families, while the not so honest commercial fishermen are taking advantage of the opportunity and greed which may force some fishermen out of work.
Other problems, besides declining fish stock, that result from fishermen’s techniques are the fishing nets that are intended for fish, and the other larger fish, for example, the whale, end up tangled in the nets. Another...
