I Current Situation
A. Current Performance
In the past year Wal-mart’s performances in Market Share, Profitability, and Return on investment have had significant changes compared to past years performances.
Return on Investment Now compared to previous years: They are paying out $63.079 billion to their share holders compared to last year’s $58.763 billion and an average of $3.09 earnings per share of the 4.068 billion shares out
Market share today: Out of 2000 big companies Wal-mart is @ 17 with 201.36 billion in Market Value and in its industry of retail, Wal-mart is ranked #1 with Home depot and Target behind.
Profitability of the company compared to the past: Last year Wal-mart closed with their Net Sales at $344.992 billion and as Wal-mart finishes their third quarter their Net Sales is at $269.8 billion, this is a positive for them and an 8.6% increase on sales.
B. Strategic Posture
The Company’s current Mission objective is to give their customers what they want. Their strategy is to give their customers everything: a wide assortment of good quality merchandise at the lowest possible price. And their policies include guaranteed satisfaction with what you buy; friendly, knowledgeable service; convenient hours; free parking; a pleasant shopping experience.-Sam WaltonThey are clearly stated with the motivation to get 100% customer satisfaction and are customer dependent, with out customers Wal-mart wouldn’t exist.
Mission: Wal-mart has 3,900 U.S. stores and 1,840 International Stores all which include Wal-mart Super centers, Sam’s Club markets, ASDA, magazines, restaurants clubs, Seiyu, Pace, Woolcu, McLane Company, Wertkauf, Interspar, Bompreco, Sonde, Carhco, Cifra, and counting.
