Wag The Dog

The movie Wag the Dog is basically about how to save the image of the president eleven days before the election in order to be re-elected. He is accused of a sex scandal that could hurt his chances of being re-elected to president of the United States of America. To save his image actor Robert De Niro who plays Conrad Brean, decides to hire a producer, Stanley Motss, who is played by Dustin Hoffman, and start a war to shift the attention of the media off the president and on to other matters at hand.
Is it clear in the film who is wagging the dog? Yes it is very clear who is wagging the dog in the film, it is Conrad, Winnie, and Stanley who are responsible for the false news, and information to the public. Who is the dog being wagged? It's the American people that are being wagged by the government fed lies through the false information the media is reporting. Who is the target of the political and media manipulation orchestrated by Conrad, Winnie, and Stanley? The target is the American voters to keep them on the president's side instead of voting for the senator who is running against him.
Is it plausible that this type of situation could actually happen in American society? Yes it is very plausible that this situation could happen in America. Has this already happened before? Yes it has already happened to some degree. President Clinton was involved in a sex scandal while he was president in the white house. During which time he sent the military into another country to shift the media off him and onto the fact of possible war might start. What is credible in the film? What is credible in the film is that the media will take in any information about any thing without checking on it for actual truth before reporting the news of any thing. For example, a car wreck might occur during the day in any city involving a celebrity or some one of importance, but the media will report the fact that some one might have died in the crash...
