Abstract
In this paper, allocentric and egocentric references are studied to be applied in the design of a remote controlled robot. Attempts to treat both references as isolated are explained in various exercises to conclude that both can be mutually complementary when a person chooses to solve complex spatial problems in a particular way. Vision in an allocentric reference has more advantages; however there is an egocentric reference of motor commands that fulfill the complete strategy. Based on scientific literature, examples of orientation, navigation, motion and control are analyzed to develop an interface design.
Full understanding of the spatial knowledge and cognition resulted into a design that coherently relates to the mental model of the robot operator.

Introduction
In the last couple of decades, researchers within various fields related to neuroscience have published scientific data about how animals and humans solve spatial problems. Based on the most relevant inputs taken from this scientific data, the main aim of this assignment is to design the interfaces and controls for a robot in a specific scenario brief given.
As a starting point, the scenario will be fully described in order to identify the requirements and tasks the robot should accomplish. Next, relevant definitions about spatial knowledge and spatial cognition will be explained and discussed to set up the knowledge frame for later use to design the interfaces and controls of the robot. As a conclusion, a description and discussion of the most appropriate elements will be applied to the final interface and control design.
