In the Second World War, Japan occupied Vietnam and all Indochina. 2nd September 1945, Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence and the Vietnam Democratic Republic was born. After the Second World War, French want to come back to regain making Vietnam become a colonial. But Vietnamese strongly gain, so Geneve Agreement was signed to end their yoke nearly a hundred years of French in Vietnam and also cut Vietnam to 2 parts and get 17 parallel as border. However, Geneve Agreement was broken after that. America sent US army to make a war in Vietnam in 1964. January 1973, America can not control their lost and financial, so they signed Paris Agreement and give back their army. Vietnam War end at 30th April 1975.

After the war end, Vietnam was in financial crisis and social crisis. In 1990, Vietnam started join in the international community. Vietnam joined into ASEAN in 1995, after normalization of relations with the U.S. one year before. Nowaday, Vietnam is a member of many international organizations such as the United Nations community in France, ASEAN, APEC. 11th January 2007, Vietnam became the 150th member of the WTO. Vietnam has been elected as a member of the non-permanent Security Council United Nations for the period 2008-2009 on 16th October 2007.

Vietnam has an area of 331,212 km ². Vietnam is a tropical country, south of Vietnam has 2 seasons, and east of Vietnam has 4 seasons. Vietnam has many mineral mines on land, natural forests and some mines and oil, gas, ore minerals outside off.
