This paper will discuss a personal work experience issue that I feel would have been resolved or possibly would not have existed if there was a presence of a diverse workforce. Specific details will be provided regarding how diversity would have prevented the situation or would have facilitated a more winning resolution to the issue.
I am currently employed at a legal and corporate copying service. I have been with this service for ten years. We are a very small company with only 4 employees;
when I started ten years ago the company was a franchise. During this time there were about ten or more employees. We had salesmen that would go out to our customers at the law firms and other companies and pick up jobs or scout for new customers. There was one particular salesman that was talked about throughout the company. He was attractive, well-dressed, and funny. He was indeed the ladies man. He had a rich and well-known girl-friend and soon later they did marry. The problem was that he was having intimate relations with one of the girls in the company. I knew that she liked him because she always talked about him and stayed in his face while he was in the office, but did not know the extent of their relationship. Aside from the relations aspect of the issue she was only 17 years old. The situation really blew up when word was spread that the two were messing around after hours in the office. Her mother was an attorney and one of our clients. He stopped talking to her, unless the discussion was about work, after he got married.
There was a second salesman that was not labeled as a ladies man but he flirted too much with the girls in the company and with clients. He was much younger than the other salesman. Anytime a new girl was hired and she was cute he was all over her. Our boss was not always in the production area so many things were done and said just amongst us. He was not obnoxious or rude but offensive to those who were not looking for...
