Research Summary and Paraphrase Worksheet
As students continue to refine and develop their Individual Paper on Team Dynamics, they will need to practice conducting scholarly research and integrating research findings into their writing. This assignment gives students the opportunity to apply their paraphrasing, summarizing, and direct quotation skills. In addition, students will practice their APA citation skills.
PART ONE: SUMMARIZING, PARAPHRASING, AND DIRECT QUOTES
Retrieve the following article from the Learning Team Toolkit:
Temme, J. & Katzel, J. (1995). Calling a team a team doesn't mean that it is: Successful teamwork must be a way of life. Plant Engineering, 49(1), 112-114.
(Hint: Access the “What is a Team?” link in the “Team Basics” section of the Learning Team Toolkit)

Use the article to complete the following activities. Remember to use correct APA citations.
1. Summarize the author’s ideas on goals and objectives, empowerment, and trust.
Goals and objectives should be decided on by the team. To gain trust team members must respond, reply, and follow through. Members must be able to rotate the leadership role.





2. Paraphrase one of the main concepts presented in the article.
People must encourage and accept authentic participation.




3. Provide an example of a direct quote from the article.
