Sammy he is a spoiled kid, which makes his life very puzzling. Sammy saw some cute girls that came into his work place and he really liked one of them, but his boss man spoiled his dreams. Sammy then grew some chest hair and talked very mean to his boss man for telling the girls not to come back in the store. The main character in the story, Phoenix Jackson, is an old black woman who makes a long journey into town to get medicine for her ill grandson. Despite the many obstacles Phoenix encounte“Ripe Figs,” was a very good story. The story was based on two individuals, Maman-Nainaine, and Barbette. Maman-Nainaine was very good at protecting Barbette by not letting her get away from her in certain seasons. The people in the story did not have any electricity so the only how they knew time was by the season. Maman-Nainaine didn’t want any of the farmers to take advantage of Barbette so during the winter she didn’t allow the little girl to leave home. When the fig in the farm was right, Maman-Nainaine knew it was summer/ spring and it was fine for the little girl to visit her cousinrs along her journey, determination helps her to continue1. One reason for studying psychology is to help us understand why other people do the things they do, but also helps us to better understand ourselves and our reactions to other people....
