Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
This act ensures that the businesses must provide a safe and healthy environment for their staff and for their customers. Both employers and employees have a duty to make sure that the working area was safe so they cannot endanger themselves or towards customers.
Morrisons must make sure that before beginning any lifting manoeuvre their employees, check that the weight is manageable, the area of lift is clear and the exit path is clear. If the lifting manoeuvre is complex, Morrisons must make sure that they use enough people because to avoid danger and reduce the risk of injury from these operations and to customers.
Ali's Newsagents must make sure to store and stack all materials safely. If this is not done properly, the customer is likely to result in a head repercussions due to the falling stack of inappropriate materials from the top shelve.
Boots must make sure the premise is clean and tidy at all times. If there is spillage of liquid, it must me cleaned immediately and put up a yellow sign indicating the floor is wet.
Morrisons will be affected the most because they have to require more equipment, safety procedures and training for their employees so they are well trained for circumstances that may endanger their health which more money will be needed for a better ensuring and trustworthy staff for customers who may hesitate in the procedure such as a fire drill. Also they may change their supplier if they do not meet the standards of the health and safety act, which the supplier will need to be checked thoroughly by the Morrison staff before any demands are made.
