UNESCO Paper
The ecological property that I decide to find more information about was the area called, Air and Tenere Natural Reserves. This is located in Africa and is the largest protected area in the Continent. It is also the third largest reserve in the world (UNESCO). The area of the reserve goes into the Air Mountains and western sections of the Tenere desert. The reserve is home to numerous different plants and animals. Unfortunately there are many factors that harm the environment and animals. There are also, for the time being, very well dedicated safeguards for all of the area.
The diversity of animals and vegetation on Air and Tenere are quite a few. There have been counts of over 350 different types of vegetation alone. Most of them are adapted for the common droughts. There have been counts of “40 species of mammals, 165 birds some 18 reptiles and one amphibian…(United Nations)” With all the species of animals there are many local problems with poaching. This has been a problem for the reserve for many years; it was only until the early 1990’s that the area was put on the List of World Heritage in Danger. The only real problem that this reserve has is military poaching and tourist disturbance. It is such a vast amount of area that it is too difficult to monitor the whole land.
The biological interrelationship between all of the life forms in Air and Tenere Natural Reserves somewhat of common to other areas around the world. The plentiful vegetation that Air and Tenere have are more than enough for the animals to eat. The one...
