chapter 5
1. Lexington and concord: this battle mainly began with the british sending troops to the colonies in order to take all their weapons. This event showed the colonists wilingness to fight against the british for their freedom. The actions of the men that fought against the british were very patriotic.
2.fort ticonderoga: An attempt by the colonist military to protect boston by taking guns from ticonderoga to dorchester heights.
3. Invasion of canada: The whole purpose of invading canada was to alienate the british, gain support of the french canadians in order to fight against England. Another purpose was to prevent attack from the North. This was an unsuccessful attempt by the colonist to gain supporters against britain.
4. Trenton: Washingtons attack on British military giving his own soldiers convidence in the war and the country. The victory at trenton gave the american troops a little more convidence and helped in extending the soldiers contract in the military.
5. Saratoga: This was an encounter between Burgoynes troops and american army under general Gates. The americans were successful in defending the british and making 5,800 british men to surender.
6. Savannah: This place was captured by british troops in order to gain support from southern african americans and weaken the patriotic defense.
7. Yorktown: the surrender of cornwallis at Yorktown in october 1781 ended the war. The americans were successful in this event due to the despute between general Cornwallis and General clinton.
8. Many indians supported the british while others also supported the Americans. In the other hand, some avoided the conplicts, while others fought for their own independence against people grabbing lands from the east.
9. African americans helped the british by joining their army, giving them information of cheasapeake bay. Some were pilots while others brought provisions to the british troops. Many other slaves as fought for the americans...
