TYPES OF HUMAN MOVEMENTS AND MIGRATION

(A) Human movements or Short-term and short distance migrations
Every year millions of the world’s people make what is often a momentous decision to move to a new abode. Perhaps the move is across town, or possibly to an other part of the country. It is not only - the large scale migrations from one country to another and from one continent to an other which is not important, The geography of a country is often affected by movements of only short duration or involving only short distances. Such movements may be divided on the basis of both distance traveled and duration of stay.

(1) CYCLIC MOVEMENT: Cyclic movement .involves journeys that begin at and bring us back to our home base. You may glosses every week day and perhaps to a job as well. This is a formal Cyclic movement. In farming villages around the world, the farmers walk or ride to the fields each morning spend the day at work on the land, and return to the village at night. People working in the central places of the large cities such as Karachi, are prepared to travel an hour or more on each way every working day. More time consuming and less frequent are seasonal forms of Cyclic movement Many of us take our vacations and holidays during the same period each year, Laborers move to areas where crops are harvested or town-dwellers move into the country

(2) PERIODIC MOVEMENT : Some forms of movement in due a larger period or periods of residence way from the home base than cyclic movements normally do. Men might move to another country for a few years to earn extra money to buy land or improve conditions at home by remitting their earnings to their families. Today the most notable example of this kind of temporary migration is found in Middle East States. Other hundreds of thousands of people are relocated through their military service.
