Introduction
“Today, tourism is one of the largest and dynamically developing sectors of external, economic activities. Its high growth and development rates, considerable volumes of foreign currency inflows, infrastructure development, and introduction of new management and educational experience actively affect various sectors of economy, which positively contribute to the social and economic development of a country as a whole”. (Mirbabyev, B.;Shagazatova, M.)
Even if tourism is such a big and important developing sector, on the one hand, positive effects should be taken into consideration, but on the other hand tourism also can have negative impacts as consequence, therefore this report will deal with the problem statement “Socio-cultural impacts of tourism in Turkey”.
Firstly, the reader will get a definition of the term “socio-cultural” and receive information about Socio-cultural impacts of tourism in general. He or she will be able to gain an insight into these impacts. Moreover, an overview of the tourism development in Turkey (with a small focus on the Mediterranean Area), will be given. Next, an application to the impacts to the Mediterranean Area will follow. In this chapter information about the current situation will be stated.
After answering the individual research questions a conclusion will be drawn. The conclusion will answer the above mentioned problem statement and summarize the main points to refresh the information from the research questions.
