The Whole Truth about the Iraq War
For my first peace paper I went to the Ritz East movie theater on September 30th to watch the movie "Uncovered: The Whole Truth about the Iraq War." This is a movie whose mission was to reveal the lies that have been told to the American people by the Bush Administration. The majority of the audience seemed to me to be democrats or at least people who opposed the war in Iraq and the Bush Administration. There were a lot of people who are antiwar and they were easy to pick out. On the other hand, there were a few strays thrown in who seemed to be pro-war and a Bush backer. Most of these people ended up leaving the theater in hatred and claiming that it is all lies and speculation, and even some left the theater before the movie was finished. I continually saw and heard people becoming uneasy and shaking their heads in disgust. Their was a wide variety of people there. The ages ranged from about late teens to about late sixties or early seventies. I would say that there was pretty much of an even split between male and female, but the majority of the people look to be middle aged and middle class people.
The movie opened up with ten to fifteen people introducing themselves and stating their jobs titles or former job titles and how long they held that position. The majority of them were military leaders from a variety of branches. Some were workers in the CIA in charge of intelligence. Others were people that actually worked on searching for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in the 1990's and in 2003. This movie was much more believable than Fahrenheit 9/11 due to the fact that it was real interviews with people who had important positions in the CIA, the Bush Administration, and the United States Military Forces. All these people were intelligent and are qualified to talk about these topics.
