To the Troops Defense Protests were not so common from 2002-2004. The anti-war groups did not complain as prevalent and often. They argue that this war has lasted too long. Many, many wars from the beginning of time have lasted far longer than our current war. Why didn’t anti-war demonstrators protest over World War II? Japan used airplanes to destroy American buildings. Sound familiar? So is there a time that it’s accepted and a time when there is not acceptance? This war has lasted a long time. That fact cannot be hidden. It has cost a lot of money. United State military spending is associated with the War on Terror and Iraq and Afghanistan invasions. Stats from The Runaway Military Budget: an Analysisshow that the state of our military spending was on the rise earlier than 1998, which if I might add, was before President Bush. Anti-War groups destroy him over his spending as a war mongrel. I see why people don’t want a deficit, because it strains our economy, and can lead to a recession. However, a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative growth . . . currently we have grown at .6% the last two quarters so our latest spending in 2007 and the beginning of 2008 hasn’t lead to a recession. American citizens criticized this war before the first US soldier casualty. The first casualty was no different that the 4,079th. The demonstrations that anti war groups do, or people who belong to them, are disrespectful to our United States soldiers. Next, the same disrespectful protesters are the ones exploiting the troops, not our President. Protestors hold a belief that it is President Bush exploiting the troops, for some crazy, illegitimate reason. It is the protesters who use the deaths of our soldiers for anti-propaganda. They insist that it is not the terrorists who killed our troops, but rather, it was President Bush, with his hand on the detonator of a roadside bomb or the trigger of an RPG, a Rocket Propelled Grenade. We all know that is a likely scenario....
