I work for a company that supports the government by developing many of the equipment that is being used in the War efforts. The section that I work for uses office automation applications. These applications are used in two forms: they are used in a work group and in an individual type form.

Work Group Form
There are many types of categories that fall under work group form. You have the email, calendar, workflow management, and information sharing. With having some many people located in different parts of the country a good category to have in the application is the email system. This allows a team to communicate information in a timely manner. It's also a means of communication without leaving your desk. You can't forget about he employees that are participating in a virtual office environment. E-mail has provided another option in keeping the communicative lines open without serious training curves. Mailing costs has been drastically reduced as a result of this electronic mailbox technology. Unfortunately, junk mail is an issue, but with the proper software it can be reduced. For scenarios that require visual representation of statistical reports i.e. graphs, an color laser printer would be the desired choice. The cost for a color laser printer is going down and the size is going down also which would make it an ideal item to be placed on the employee's desk. A corporation's image is often judged by the quality of a corporation's annual report as well. It is for these reasons that a laser printer would be the best option. Especially, should the annual report include color photographs, as they are quite capable of producing quality images in half the time that an ink jet printer could perform in completing this task. However, there are instances where one might need to print numerous copies and for this situation a laser printer would be the wise choice.
