This Is Life

One Chinese man and his son were very poor and they only had one horse. One day their horse run away and their neighbour came to them and told them:
“What a terrible thing to happen to you!”
The Chinese man replied: ‘I don’t know whether this is good or bad thing to happen, this is life.”
Next day, horse came back bringing with it many new horses. Then neighbour came to Chinese man again and told him: “What a good thing to happen. Your horse brought you many new horses. You are rich man now.”
Chinese man replied: “It is hard to say whether this is good or bad thing to happen. This is life.”
One day Chinese man’s son was riding the horse, and fell down, broke his leg and became crippled. The neighbours came to him again and told him: “It is terrible thing to happen to your son.”
Again, Chinese man replied: “I don’t know whether this is good or bad thing to happen, this is life.”
Soon after that, soldiers came to their village and took all healthy young boys to the war. They took neighbour;s son, but not Chinese man’s son because he was crippled. Then the neighbour told him again: “Maybe I’ll never see my son again. But you are happy because they didn’t take away you son.”
Once again, Chinese man replied: “I don’t know whether this is good or bad thing to happen, THIS IS LIFE.”
