Kite Runnin’: The Kite Runner Parody
December 2001 I’m not who I am because of where I went to college, or what I’ve done… it’s what I saw at the age of twelve in the winter of 1975. This incident changed my life forever… the alley changed my life forever. Hannah was my best friend, a girl yes, but none-the-less, my best friend. Who am I? I am Amy. Yes, probably the most feminine name you could ever give a boy, but I’m not feminine at all. Or am I? Maybe sometimes.
Papa told me that my mother really wanted a giggling baby girl. When I was born and I wasn’t that baby girl, she named me Amy instead. She died that night. Papa always said that I would never live up to my name. I knew I never would

I cleared my throat, and read “I do not like them here or there, I do not like them anywhere. I would not eat green eggs and ham. I do not like them. Sam I am.” I look at Hannah while she smiled at me and her lazy eye tried to look at me as well. Hannah was born with a lazy eye. It freaked me out. I never told her though, because I thought it would be too… well, feminine to bring up something like that. And I am by no means feminine. Just born with a feminine name. That reminds me of a …show more content…
The kite took a sharp corner and she followed right with it. As soon as she turned the corner, Ash and his two groupies were standing in the back alley. I wasn’t scared at all… no. I, Amy, am a very brave boy. But I just wanted to watch from afar. As I watched from the distance, I witnessed Ash and his compadres change Hannah forever. They pushed her in the corner and forced her to…. eat broccoli. It was the worst thing I had ever seen in my life and I did nothing to help her. It not only changed my life, but Hannah’s life forever too. I could never forgive myself for this incident… or I could I?
Later in 1975 to 1976ish…
Hannah and I stopped talking. I just avoided her at all cost. I kept trying to get Papa to kick them out of our house…but I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened to her in the alley.
March 1981
We were split up forever. I never saw Hannah again. At the time, I thought it was the best time of my life. A new start and a new time to make new friends. But I couldn’t stop thinking about what happened to Hannah in the alley.
California June 2001… or something like that.
I met a woman named Sam. We married, but couldn’t have children. Adoption wasn’t a choice, but what other choices were there? All I could think about was that darn alley situation… STILL.

“And there in your eyes, what was it? Sadness? Pain? You moved around me and tried pushing your hair away from your face. Your fingernails were dark blue.” (259). Clay was having a flashback to when he last saw Hannah through the halls and how she looked like, when he saw her and how sad she looked. How this is important is because she was giving him a sign that she isn’t alright and boxed up. Also, she was trying to hide the fact that she was depressed,…

Hannah Baker, recorded on seven different tapes her thirteen reasons as to why she committed suicide. Throughout her story she tells of the hardships she went through when she came to her new school and the rumors that began to spread once she started fitting in with the students. The song “Bruised and Scarred” by Mayday Parade relates to a specific scene in this book. The song describes a couple who had a first kiss and it seemed as if things were supposed to be so good after that but then things took a wrong turn and it ended badly. This relates to the scene when Hannah tells about her first kiss with Justin Foley. It was just as she imagined her first kiss would be, perfect. She felt so happy once she finally had the perfect first kiss with a guy who she thought was absolutely perfect. Hannah then comes to find out that Justin had been telling rumors of things that happened that night that truly never happened. This caused a lot of problems and Hannah ended it…

    Irony In The Kite Runner

“The great thing about irony is that it splits things apart, gets up above them so we can see the flaws and hypocrisies and duplicates.” – David Foster Wallace. The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, included lessons that gave readers a glimpse of what life is like as one grows older. As we progress through the book, we see how the relationship between servant and masters looks like. The relationship between Baba and Ali, and, Amir and Hassan, really captures the essence of how hypocritical and ironic Baba and Amir are. Khaled Hosseini portrayed how hypocritical and ironic Baba and Amir were through their relationship with their slaves. The two claim that their relationship between their slaves were two friends. However, it seems more of a master to slave relationship more than a friend to friend one.…

All Hannah wanted in the story was for someone to care for her, little did she know, Clay did. It’s ironic because Hannah expresses interest for Clay in one tape and if he would’ve not been so shy towards her, maybe she wouldn’t of had to commit suicide. This is an example of appearance vs. reality because Clay appeared like he had no interest in Hannah, when in reality he actually did. The author states, “But I wasn’t alone. I knew that. For the first time in a long time, I was connecting--connected--with…

Hannah told Marin to come down in a week to spend New Years with them so she won't be alone. Marin was really hesitant about flying up there. At the college that Hannah and Marin go to are really close to the janitor, so the janitor helps her tell the secretary about her staying there until she graduates. He also asks her if she needs anything else. The parts I like in this book is where her friends and janitor help her get out of the dorm for a bit, to have fun and not be stuck up in the dorm. The book is great to read I would tell my friends to read it and my family members to read it too. The book got to me in a way. But then seeing more of it lift me up and lift the book up more. Marin may be lonely in the beginning of this book, but trust me she feels better about herself. I would recommend this book to a lot of people, especially the ones who are going through the same as Marin. If they read it, I'll give them the heads up on how it's sad the first 3…

It is quite clear that Jane and Darren appreciate people who are honest, as Hannah and Susan create a lasting impact on their lovers from their honesty. In Learning Seventeen Hannah is abrupt and honest right away when she meets Jane, immediately discussing her “Little brush with death” as in Jane’s attempt at suicide (Carter 80 2018). Initially Jane is startled by her blunt qualities and honesty but later on grows on her and inspires her. Hannah is also very forward and truthful with Jane about her pride of being a lesbian at No Hope Academy, where the two lovers met. She wittingly says, “I just love girls is all. I love them, they love me, and that is never going to change” (Carter 82 2018). Hannah’s truthfulness to herself is inspirational to Jane, as she adores her more bright personality and ambition thus inspiring Jane to be more honest with herself. Susan is also very honest with Darren, especially when it comes to their relationship he is unfamiliar with. She never romanticizes how they began dating, but rather accepts the humor in the fact that Darren simply told her to not date a guy named Brian and Darren instead. Her ability to cut to the chase rather than blur the lines is what makes Susan such a strong character in the story. Closer to the end of the story, Susan also is able to be blunt and honest as well when it comes to Darren’s poor actions in his other life. She says, “You took off and got famous and forgot about me?” remaining forward and almost confrontational to Darren, which is actually what he needed in the story in order to better himself in his other life (Prendergast 80…

Although I could barely understand and speak English during my first few months in the U.S., she accepted me for who I was and treated me as if I was just like everyone else and not some foreigner. I am not the only one whom she embraced--her brother, Benjamin, was born with down syndrome but welcomed into her world and family. She takes care of her brother with great patience despite the fact that he can be exceptionally stubborn. Throughout her life, she had to cancel many events in order to accommodate the plans of her brother. For example, she constantly had the responsibility of watching over her brother and even cancelled her own birthday party due to conflicts with Benjamin—there would be no one to supervise him and her parents were too busy with him to host a proper celebration. Hannah was put into a lot of pressure since a young age to look over her brother; despite all the impediments, she never complained about him but accepted him as her lovable…

She was constantly in conflict with herself over whether or not what she was doing to help this boy would be seen as inappropriate and wrong. This boy came from a family of drug dealers and criminals, they didn’t know if they should trust him spending so much time with Laura. Even though everyone was telling her differently, Laura had a gut feeling that what she was doing was right: “I had only known Maurice for a couple of months at that point, but I already knew he would be in my life for a long, long time. I just knew that in my heart” (Schroff and Tresniowski 97). Even throughout Laura’s internal conflict with their relationship and her friends and family’s apprehension, Maurice and Laura’s bond was unbreakable.…
