Introduction
Teenage drinking and driving has caused the loss of life not only nationally but to the local community as well. 25% of all fatal auto teen death in 2003 involved alcohol levels above the legal limit of 0.08 g/dl. (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 2003) In developing an educational program directed a teenagers and drinking the educator must identify several client factors that will influence the effectiveness of the educational offering. The paper will identify several of these areas and how the educator plans to meet the needs of the target audience.
Population
Hammond high school in 2006-2007 had a combined male/female enrolled student population of 1,080.(Indiana Department of Education, 2007) Current student ages range from 15 to 19. With approval of the principal Mr. Otis Watkins and cooperation from teachers Jacqueline Brasseur and James Sherer, an educational offering will be offered to 12 classes of students. Each class size is between 18 and 25 students. This will produce a student contact percentage between 20 and 27percent or approximately � of the student population.
Assessment
Communication with Hammond Public Health Department and Hammond City School Administration confirmed the need for the educational offering. While there was no communication with the target community the educators as well as published material supported the educational need for the community identified.
