It was late at night, the wind was blowing, the storm was raging, and the power was out. Everyone in my house was in the basement bailing water, or holding flashlights so the people bailing could see where the water laid. Suddenly, the phone starts to ring, I run upstairs to get it. It was Shayanna. She had called to tell me that I had made the part of Susan in the play if I was interested. I went and got my mom, who was sopping up water with some towels at the time, and told her that Shayanna wanted me to play the part of Susan, and that Shayanna would like to talk to her.…
Winter was just starting in Mississippi so the sun wasn’t shining that much. But all I was glad about was that Cassie learned her place in the world, (ya know cause she's a little black girl). A couple days ago down in Strawberry Cassie bumped into me. I told her to get off the sidewalk but she wouldn’t so my daddy had to step in and push her off. But when her grandmother comes she makes her apologize to me. It felt good when she said Miz Lillian Jean instead of just Lillian Jean. Me, Cassie and my little brother Jeremy were walking home on sunny day and Cassie was carrying my book down on past the railroad tracks. As we walking up towards the bank Cassie tells me she’s got a little gift for me. So we…
During my junior year in high school I visited the oncology area at St. Christopher's hospital for children with the Quilt for Kids a nonprofit organization dedicated to brightening the lives of children who suffer from abuse or life threatening illnesses. Oncology is the study and treatment of tumors such as cancer. The volunteers made quilts for the kids for support and comfort during their recovery. I made two-horse stuffed animals instead of a quilt, I wanted them to hold on to something while they went to a difficult process. I made a chestnut-brown horse color, with hazel eyes, and light-colored hair. The other horse was a dun horse with tannish tint, with brown eyes and dark long hair. This experience had an emotional impact on me it…

After three days of staying in Alcove Springs fully rested we set off for Fort Kearney. We were moving along platte river for five days everything fine and dandy until I hit a giant rock with my wagon which sent half our stuff in the wagon flying with a big, "clash". I first checked to see if my family was alright, which they were and then I saw the cat who got his tail half chopped of by the trunk crushing it. I decided to chop off the half of the tail that was crushed. As for the wagon, it was just a broken tire. I was lucky another person on the wagon train had a spare I told them I'd pay them…
When I was doing homework one Saturday night, my mom gave me the news that my friends have invited me to watch a movie. I said yes, since I was doing homework for a couple of hours. The movie that we saw was about a car crash and how it changed one girl’s life. That girl lost her little brother in the accident. She was fighting with her brother, as I was, and when he passed away, she realized he was a big part of her life. I started crying.…
I woke up feeling physically, mentally exhausted from the day before, packaging meat and cleaning crates for Second Harvest Food Pantry. We sorted and pack meat. I did not think I could look at meat ever again. We then had to cleaned crates, after crates of what use to have food in them. It was a new day, and we had to return back to work. My mission group and I were going to River Food Pantry. I had no clue what to expect. I finally learned we would be serving homeless people. One very long month later, everyone's bags were packed and we was off to Tennessee! After five lengthy hours and passing through a time zone, I spotted the breathtaking view of Nashville. As we entered our hotels parking lot, I got out of the car and stared in awe of all the bright colorful lights and building against the dark night sky. It was stunning. My family and I walked into the hotel to be greeted by a welcoming smile from the lady behind the desk. We got our room keys and went to out room. It was decorated with pictures of guitars and a warm welcoming goldish yellow wallpaper. Although it was already nine o'clock, our night had just began.…
