Kudler Fine Foods Newsletter/Coupons Project
Kathy Kudler has started a project that will produce a monthly newsletter for her customers that will distribute coupons for her store. This will allow Kudler’s customers the opportunity to purchase discounted food items from their various locations. In order to keep the project on time and reduce some setbacks the project is currently facing, Kathy has contracted Team A to intervene. The team will make some assumptions of how the project is being affected.
Project Delay
The coupons project is currently behind schedule. There are thirty-six days to produce a product that will deliver coupons to its customers in an effort to further Kudler’s marketing strategy. Eleven days of the project’s scheduled life have already passed. This leaves only twenty five days to get back on track and finish the project.
Finishing behind schedule will ultimately hurt the sales division and the promotions contained in the newsletter. The sales department commission schedule will be affected if the newsletter does not go out on the current thirty-six day implementation schedule. This could also create a backlog of merchandise if the products that Kudler wants to market have already been ordered.
Another key point is where the analysis and development of the database has taken place in the plan. Not enough iteration testing and development of the database creates more work and project time constraints. These time constraints and workload increases could easily cause errors to be inserted due to lack of thoroughness. Coordination must be perfect so that the right amount of resources work the issue at the right time.
Communication issues between Kathy and the purchasing department haven’t been well received by each other. Monthly sale items have to match the inventory schedule and due to project delay this will increase the supplies on-hand.
