Super Assassin

To think of your favorite movie may not sound very difficult; however, once I actually began thinking of my favorite movies, many came to mind. Yet when I began writing down reasons to explain what was so great about these movies, I came to an abrupt stop. It was then I realized that the movies I had in mind were decent but not necessarily great. The movies on my list were movies that I enjoyed watching once but I would not watch multiple times because I would quickly get bored with them. To me a great movie is one that you can watch many times but still be intrigued as your first viewing. After thinking for a long time, I concluded that the one great movie on my list was Kill Bill Vol. 1 and 2.
These two movies were written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino takes an interesting approach in his telling of the story. Kill Bill tells the story of Beatrix, played by Urma Thurman, as she awakens from a coma and goes on to get revenge on the assassins responsible for her attempted murder. However, Tarantino does not tell this story in chronological order. Instead, he uses flashbacks to unveil the plot of the film, causing the viewer to think and put the story together in his mind like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. In this movie, Tarantino also uses chapters. As the film progresses, a titled chapter appears presenting a specific scene. This is quite different from other movies that I have seen which just progress from one scene to another without any introduction to the upcoming scene.
Another reason I like this movie is that it alludes to anime and superheroes. In the first volume, there is a scene where Tarantino tells the origin of O-Ren Ishii, played by Lucy Liu. Tarantino uses animated characters such as the ones seen in Japanese comic books to tell her tragic story and at the same time shows how vengeful she is.
