What is “Success”?
As individuals we might have different ideas about what success is. Success is the accomplishment of any plan or wish in life. However it depends on what we want in life to be successful and know how to get it. Some get success by luck and others struggle for it in their whole life and never get it, and some others work for their success and get it in time. A College student might define success a different way than a movie star or a lawyer defines success. In a Western Cultural class I am currently attending, the first day of collage the Professor asked us to introduced ourselves and what our intended goals in life are, and one of the students said “I want to be a President,” and the other student said, “I want to help people in need,” and the other student said that he wants to be basketball player and become famous. In that instant it made me realize that even though the students are talking about their goal in life, once they accomplish their goal it is going to be their success, so success can be defined by being a president or being famous or helping those in need.
Success can be defined as becoming a president. To be a president is not an easy job, however, being a president of a country is the most glorious job of all and the feeling of success can be immense. Recently, President Barack Obama had a 2009 back to school speech at a high school in Arlington, Virginia and in his speech he was talking to the students about how he was raised by a single mother who had to work to provide for the family. When they were in Indonesia, because she couldn’t afford to send him to the Americans schools there, she had to wake him up at 4:30 A.M. to teach him so he was not behind in his education, He also talked about how he sometimes missed his father and also got into more troubles than he was supposed to, and beside all that how he went to law school to follow his dreams.
