Case Study: The Innovation Parking Lot It is the first day for Garry Maximus to come to his new office; he is a new director of innovation management of Alain Wises Company. Alain Wises is a company with a long history of innovations. Before he starts his job, Weatherwax, his senior executive manager, want Garry to meet him. He wants to congratulate him for joins in to Alain Wises Company and leads The Green Team. It is one of strongest team in Alain Wises Company. Weatherwax explains the main culture of the company that is innovation, when it markets a product it is a result of innovation. Two years ago, Weatherwax had a word “innovation” spread painted on every spot in the employee’s parking lot. That was a way for him to maintain organization’s culture and to remind all employee about why they were here. At the end of conversation, Weatherwax reminds him that his job is to help the Green Team succeed and Alain Wise make a lot of money. That conversation made Garry feels so exciting about this company, maybe because it is suitable with his concentration along with his professional experiences at innovation management’s field. Nevertheless, Garry finds out the opposite situation when he comes to introduce himself to his partners from engineering departement, Chris Bagley and David Zaxby. David, a data analyst, says that Weatherwax expect them to innovate but he just provide less budget to go through of its. At the end of that day, Garry tries to figure out things that should he do to face both sides of different reality in his new office. He doesn’t want that different perspectives between executive and engineering will prohibit his success. The most important things are keep the innovative result with minimum risk and communicate some issues related to budgetary with both of them, executive and engineer.
