There are many different kinds of stress that effect college students, but three main ones are academic stress, social stress, and work stress. Juggling to much can stress a college student. As a fellow college student I’m confident to say I know every college student has gone through it and can relate to it. When college students are stressed they have many consequences following them. Too much stress can have a bad effect on your focus on your education.
For instance working while going to school can be a hassle and affect you with your school work and stress you out. With work you have long shifts that last for hours and you won’t have time to do your homework that needs to be done. While trying to do both you feel stressed and exhausted. You tend to get lazy in work, school and the outcome of that affects you.
You’ll start to fall behind in school pererfing to focus more on work more because it pays the bills. Also some college classes can be challenging for some students that they come unprepared for it. They mostly procrastinate or obtained the habit of not doing their work from high school. Some college students tend to make up excuses for not completing their assignments. By them doing that they get behind in class and start to stress out more when they find out they’re not passing the class. So they do their best to try and catch up in class but too much was piled up. Then the stress will make them want to give up and drop out of college.
When it comes to social stress, students worry about going to parties and talking to friends on social networks and don’t focus so much on school or work. I’ve read an article on CNN.com saying that being constantly connected through social media could increase stress, weaken personal relationships and cause sleep loss. Students are too busy worrying about what their friends are doing because they don’t want to lose them. Without friends they’ll

Everyone in the world has a chance to experience stress, so almost everyone knows what the meaning of stress is. Most people who suffer from stress are college students because they have many things to do at the same time. Students have to balance their course work and family at the same time, and they have to leave their family problems in their home to be able to concentrate carefully on their course work. The university life has become a lot more challenging, and it’s much harder than school. I think being in college can be extremely stressful because students have to do everything by themselves. Furthermore, students have many assignments to do everyday. Therefore, students stay awake late and don’t pay attention to the class because they don’t get enough sleep. Moreover, college students in their first year usually lose or gain weight; this leads to stress. Also, most students have jobs and less time to do homework which makes them stress. An enormous amount of stress affects many academic issues; such as sleep deprivation, changes in weight, and time issues.…

Stress is what we experience through a complex interplay between external forces in the environment (stressors) and our perceived ability to adapt to them. Based on our textbook, stressors fall into three main types: catastrophes, significant life changes, and daily hassles. As a high school senior (a month left of high school), my major stressor falls into significant life change category, which are both turning 18 and starting college. I feel like turning 18 will be seen as an adult, so I must act maturely and have tons of responsibility. Also, I am not ready for college at all, I do not want to leave my friends and family and am quite nervous about everything. Whenever I think about I am going to college very soon, I get sweaty palms (physiological) and feel overwhelmed (psychological).…

One reason why students drop out of college is that there is too much fun going on to focus on getting their assignments done. In college, there are a lot of things that will keep you apart from your homework and assignments for example, getting a driving license and having a car to drive you anywhere you want to go without any restrictions. In addition, your parents will not have the same rules on like the time you must be at home. All these things will make you far behind in terms of…

College students who are stressed out over school can find it hard to maintain their grades. College isn’t as easy as high school nor is it as structure as high school. When you are in high school you have a handful of classes you must attend every day and many of them tend to give homework not because they like grading, but because they are trying to have their students to think critically and to be able to remember how something is done. By repeating a process it is more likely to be able to remain in your long term memory. Whereas if you do it once or twice and class without repeating it. You might not remember everything and the information could possibly fall into short term memory. Whereas College is totally different most classes meet…

The first cause of dropping out of college is regulating the balance between work and study. Students who are working while studying often break barriers of acceptable amount of working hours. For example, some students work full time or part time but they do physical work like lifting furniture or cleaning which makes them tired. As a consequence, they are not prepared for classes because they don't have time to study or they are too tired to focus on the homework. Because of that, they have a hard time in classes and they drop out of college. Moreover, sometimes many students get out from work too late and they are late for classes. As a result, they miss valuable time that they can spend on test or lose important information like introduction to the topic and they are disoriented. Continuing to be late forces them to make decision between school and changing a job, and in many cases they just quit school. The inability to regulate balance between work and study leads people to drop out of college.…
