Strangers Film Review
I just recently watched The Strangers which was written and directed by Bryan Bertino on Blue-ray at my home just this past Sunday. It’s the kind of film I have been waiting for a truly scary film. Let me tell you this film was scary and extremely intense! Most horror movies that come out today are a joke for example the movie Prom Night that was a complete joke not scary or suspenseful at all. Anyways, the film had a decent storyline and good acting, but that’s not where its strong points were. The plot is a young couple played by Scott Speedman and Liv Tyler come back from a wedding dinner and Scott’s character proposes to her and she rejects his proposal, and to make a long story short the couple gets interrupted by a mysterious girl who asks for a girl named Tamera. The strangers then terrorize the young couple. What makes the film so scary is its use of camera angles, lighting, and it is believable and possible that this could actually occur. He was a smart director in that he didn’t resort to cheap thrills and the fact that the killers watch their prey from behind goofy children’s masks make them all the more sinister. Bryan used elements such as you saw them behind the couple but you didn’t know when they were going to strike. I believe that the fact that this is inspired by a true story it makes you feel apart of the action in the film and you feel what they go through. I strongly recommend this film it’s one of the rare films that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I would give this film a 8 out of 10.
