Steroids
A kid steps up to the pithchers mound, staring down the batter 60 feet away. He digs his feet into the soft clay beneath his feet. The batter tightens his grip as the pithcher begins to wind up. The ball then explodes from the pitchers hand. The eye of the batter adjusts and his muscles are triggered, the bat meets the ball at the exact moment it should. The balls flies over 400 feet beyond the outfield wall. The pitcher is stunned at this, the batter is not, because he is on steroids. Steroids take away from any sport being played, it also can kill those who take them, and sets bad examples to future athletes. I believe steroids should be banned from every sport.
The first reason steroids are bad because they take away from the pureness of the sport. I don't know about you but ever since the steroid controversy has started I enjoy sports less and less. I especially think that records broke now days in sports aren't as impressive as they once were. Take the home run record in baseball as an example, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth didn't need steroids to do what they did. Hank Aaron used hard work and Babe Ruth was powered by hot dogs. I'm just saying the integrity of sports is beiginning to be questioned.
I think we sometimes forbget that a side effect of steroids is death. There are also other very serious side effects such as: Kidney failure, cartlige deteriation, the ruining of joints, shrinkage of breasts and testes, and possible heart problems. If you ask me they aren't worth it.
The third and most important reason I think steroids should be banned is because of future athletes. When I was a kid playing baseball or basketball I always acted like I was Micheal Jordan or Roger Clemens. I say this because kids everwhere want to be star athletes. It greatly disturbs me to hear that Roger Clemens may have used steroids, he has always been one of my heroes. I believe that kis also feel pressure to succeed in sports. They may...
