It is common knowledge in the world of sports, that steroids are used by white, black, young, and old players all over the league. There are many reasons why players use and abuse steroids. It is set in the mind of some young kids’ heads very early that they want to become professional athletes. Some want to just make it into the league. Others wish to gain a substantial amount of money by doing so. And for those that have already made it into the league. It is the idea that they may become bigger than life, or become a superstar. All of these reasons are very hard to come by. But with the use of steroids it could greatly increase their chances of achieving these goals as a professional player. The players and the league are to blame, and only time will tell if young kids will follow in their footsteps. The people in power and parents are the only people that can prevent young kids from taking steroids.
It is pretty obvious why players choose to take steroids. All kids that love the game of baseball dream of becoming a major league baseball player. Some kids hang on to this dream and others lose it with time, or they just find something they enjoy doing better. The first reason is money for most players. If a player makes a major league roster, he could be at least three-hundred-thousand dollars richer, and that is just the league minimum if a player stays on the roster for one hundred games. So that means that other players could make millions. Like Derek Jeter, who gets paid over two million dollars a month just to play the game of baseball. Another example is that players want to become superstars. And with steroids a good player could turn into a great player. Superstars are hard to come by, but in 1990s there were many players who could have been called just that. Players that take steroids have an extra mental aspect as well as physical. This aspect gives the player on steroids more confidence than any normal player. People need to realize that...
