Baderman Island Resort
Baderman Island was founded by the Baderman Family who migrated from Neustadt, Germany to the Kelsey Valley. Through the history of the Baderman Family estate different renovations of the land and the estate have left the family with a luxury hotel (Baderman Island 2005). The main focus of this paper is to evaluate the recruiting and staffing policies that are enlisted by the resort today. This evaluation will describe some of the processes, bring opportunities to the front, and analyze the legal compliance of the policies that Baderman Island utilizes.
Human Resources
The Baderman Island Resort’s human resource department is outsourced through the Boardman Management Group. “The philosophy of the Boardman Management Group is to recognize individual attributes and values that employee brings to the job with respect and acknowledgement” (The Boardman Management Group, 2005). The BMG is responsible for recruitment, staffing policies, benefits, payroll and acts as an employee liaison for questions regarding policy and procedure. Legal counsel in regard to the human resource department is only obtained if the need arises for employee/employer disputes and equal opportunity issues. The benefits offered to Baderman Island employees are to regular full time staff. The benefits offered are a 401K pension plan, dental, vision, long-term insurance, and short-term insurance (2005).
Employee development
The Boardman Group began professional development for its employees in 2004. The objective was to support the organizational goals of the company while providing training and development for its employees. These classes are given by instructor, online, or the option of both.
