In the informative speech I wanted to inform the audience of the effects and the probable causes of global warming. And also present better and safer ways to emit pollutants into our atmosphere. I believe that I could have done more research on the effects of pollution and the effect it has on people living in and around areas that have large pollution problems. Giving some examples of what could happen if steps are not taken to change the amount of pollution that is emitted into the atmosphere stressed my stance of the subject. I feel that I could have presented the speech better if I had made my points clearer and approached them with more confidence.
I used examples from a movie that many people have seen to make a connection with them. In the introduction I used the disasters from the movie to grab the audiences attention and to inform them of what could happen if people continue to emit large quantities of carbon dioxide into our atmosphere. In my presentation I tended to jump around without a clear thesis statement and not making a clear stance on what I was speaking about. I should have had only one main point that I took a strong stance on and continued with my presentation instead of jumping from other points.
By explaining what global warming is and how it is produced strengthened my credibility. Pointing out ways that people could cut back on carbon dioxide emissions and alternative fuel sources also made my presentation more credible. My personal appearance is also very important to establish credibility with the audience. When I was presenting my introduction/conclusion speech I did not dress in a way that made me seem credible to my stance on the subject. Appearance is a major factor if people are going to take your argument seriously.
After reviewing the tape of my speech I came to the conclusion that I was not as organized as I wanted to be. I tended to use fill in words a lot instead of continually talking...
