There are three major causes of soil erosion: overgrazing, over cultivation, and deforestation. Together, these three problems cause more problems by creating unsustainable societies. Luckily, overgrazing, over cultivation, and deforestation can be fixed and the unsustainable society becomes a sustainable one. Overgrazing is when there are more animals in comparison to land, meaning that there isn’t as much food for the animals to eat, like grass and plants. When this happens, the soil becomes bare and exposed and exposed to wind and water erosion damaging the soil. In order to prevent overgrazing you can burn unwanted stuff (trees, branches, grass), reseed the land with grass that can hold water, and manage the animals better so that they’re moved before they eat all the plants. While overgrazing is when animals eat more grass than available, over cultivation is when there are too many crops being grown and the soil doesn’t have enough time to regenerate the necessities needed to grow a quality product. This can be fixed by what is called a no-till agriculture. A no-till agriculture is when you start with spraying a field with herbicide which will kill the weeds. After this you use a planting tool that is pulled behind a tractor in order to accomplish several planting steps at once. This technique will help the soil not become compacted because there is only one step in planting. Other ways to help deter over cultivation is fertilizers and low-till farming. Deforestation is when trees and other plant life is destroyed or moved in order to use the land for a different purpose, like building houses or freeways. This act is destroying the land because the soil loses its fertility and other nutrients to be washed away because of erosion. In order to stop deforestation, trees and other vegetation need not to be cut down by people and businesses using open, empty spaces for
