Pros and Cons of Social Networking: A Review Paper

Abstract:

Purpose: The main purpose of this paper is to find out pros and cons of social networking in different spheres of life either it is personal, social, educational or professional. Digital information system is not escape from its effects. The paper is also highlights anti-social activities increasing on these networks along with suggestions/tips which can help the user to avoid the populace from the risks involved in social networking.

Design/Methodology/Approach: The paper presents a comprehensive literature review and commentary. An effort has been made to collect, organize synthesis and analysis various pre and post print literature. Finally, literature has surmised along with authors own experience on social networking.

Findings: The study found that social networks are playing pivotal role in connecting people and reducing the barriers of time, resources and space for business meetings, learning and sharing information. It also come out that the use of social networking is good for all but on the other hand when it looses the control it may prove perilous. Some of important suggestions/tips have been prepared based on review of literature and authors own experience, these tips will help the users of social network to avoid the risk involved on these networks.

Originality/value: The paper is very useful for all those who have interest in social networking. The paper carries value to update users about pros and cons of social networks along with tips to avoid risks involved in these networks.
