Similaries Between Ancient Civilizations

In what ways were early civilizations similar and/or dissimilar?
Early civilizations have shaped the lives of many people from the past and in the future. Some civilizations illustrate development while others indicate the need for improvement. Before 1500 BC, many civilizations has come and gone leaving their unique mark of History in the soils of the Earth. Despite their differences throughout history, many had three common goals and way of life: Land, Resources and Religion. Some early civilizations such as the Late Vedic Age and the Shang era in India and China respectively, used these three aspects of life as a foundation for development and enhancement in many different ways. Similarities and dissimilarities were detected and discussed in the society and economy of both the Late Vedic Age and Shang era.
According to the textbook, “The Late Vedic Age was more advanced economically and materially than the previous era.” The Shang era of China also displayed some form of advancement. Both the Late Vedic Age and the Shang era contained slaves which were at the bottom of society. Both civilizations obtained slaves through war and enslaved criminals for punishment. Apart from meat consumptions, both civilizations began farming on vast amounts of land. The Late Vedic Age favored farming because of religion while the Shang era regards farming as a form of development. Men of upper-caste or nobility in both civilizations practiced the norm of having two or more wives. This was perfectly normal.
Apart from the similarities highlighted in both civilizations, there was much dissimilarity. The Late Vedic Age society was based on a caste system, where each child or person inherits the parents place in society and this cycle goes on for generation. The caste system from early civilization until now has been a very distinguished aspect of the Indian society. The Shang era in China had the royal or aristocratic families at the top in society.
