Describe the importance of Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) explaining three environmental factors that can impact on SHRM, using relevant examples to reinforce your discussion. In this essay I will describe the concept of strategic human resource management by describing what SHRM is and what happens in the process. I will also explain the importance involved of strategic HRM, Strategic human resource management has many objectives and purposes in which I will discuss these to furthermore explain the importance of this process. I will discuss the trends in strategic human resource management. Also i will discuss is the vast difference between HR and strategic HR. There are many environmental factors that impact on SHRM, in which I will discuss three. Globalisation, academic standards and ageing population in which I will also provide examples to reinforce my discussion. The essay will explain how globalisation affects strategic human resource management by discussing how a human resource manager must develop their staff and why they must do this. It will be discussed the approaches a manager will take such as action planning. The ageing population has also affected strategic human resource management in which the essay will explain why the ageing population is important to the organisation and also explain the steps that a human resource manager has to undertake in order to meet the needs of the organisations ageing population. This essay will also explain how academic standards such as low illiteracy rates have affected the way HR managers must plan to meet their needs.
