Abstract

This paper will identify the areas in Infodisc/MediaCopy which needed to be improved, the purpose of the project, and it will list the stakeholders associated with the project. The paper will also identify the objectives needed in order to accomplish this goal.

Service Request from MediaCopy/Infodisc
Infodisc is currently one of the three largest DVD replicators in the world. Infodisc produces and distributes pre-recorded DVD/VCD discs and VHS videocassettes, as well as blank CD and DVD discs. The current Infodisc operations in North America are principally the result of the acquisition of Mediacopy by Infodisc in January 2001 and focus on replications (DVD) and duplication (VHS) of pre-recorded material. Mediacopy, when acquired by Infodisc was principally in the business of duplicating, packaging, warehousing and shipping of pre-recorded videocassettes on behalf of customers. By June 2001, Infodisc had invested significantly in the creation of a DVD replicating and packaging facility at the Mediacopy site in El Paso, Texas. Through continued expansion and with significant capital infusions, Infodisc has continued to expand DVD replication capabilities in El Paso to its present sate of 25 replication lines. Infodisc’s acquisition of Mediacopy gave the Company access to Mediacopy’s customer base that includes a major Hollywood studio, was well as the infrastructure necessary to substantially expand its customer base to include mini-major studios and other significant customers.
The objective of this service request is to develop a database application to support the manufacturing, warehousing, distribution by tracking each phase of the operation.
