Physical Fitness Worksheet

Being physically fit is an important aspect of obtaining optimal health. Becoming knowledgeable about what it means to be physically fit may greatly increase your ability to improve your health and wellness.

In this worksheet, you identify the five components of health related fitness. Completing this assignment is a step towards gaining the knowledge needed to better manage your physical fitness.

Five Components of Health Related Fitness Table

Complete the table below. The first row has been filled in for you as an example.

Cardiorespiratory Fitness
Being able to exercise at a moderate to high intensity for a long period of time
Walk 2 miles at a brisk pace every day.
Reduced the risk of heart disease, hypertension, and high cholesterol.
Muscular Strength
Maximum force able to exerted by single contraction of a muscle or muscle group.

Resistance exercises by lifting things around the house or at work place 20 to 30 minutes a day. 2-3 days per week
The ability to lift heavier objects or carrying them longer.
Muscular Endurance
The ability to perform high-intensity muscle contractions repeatedly without fatiguing.

Go running or swimming.
Increases metabolism, and reduces fatigue, helps with posture. Less injuries and less back problems.
Flexibility
The ability to move joints freely through their full range of motion.

Simple stretching daily or taking a yoga class workout at home or the gym.
Keeps muscles lean and improves balance. Decreases pain and swelling of arthritis.
Body Composition
The amount and relative proportions and distribution of fat mass and fat-free mass in the body.

Exercise ensures that the body’s fat levels stay low but also eating healthy and drinking at least 8 glasses of water.
