Same-Sex Marriages

Same-sex marriage is a very controversial issue to many. There are two sides to the argument. One side find themselves in favour of the movement to make same-sex marriages legal. The other side find it morally wrong, or wrong in some way to them, or society. Not to say that one side is right, but they each have their own perspectives and opinions on the issue.
In the article “A Victory for Same-Sex Marriage,” the New York state court has come to the decision that same-sex marriages preformed outside of the state shall be recognized inside of the state. People fighting for gay rights find this new law to be a step foreword in their fight. These people feel that people of a same-sex marriage should be entitled to the same rights, and benefits (at work), as those in a heterosexual marriage. They put forward a good argument, stating points such as: Just because these people aren’t a couple of opposite sex, they are very much in love, and all in all they are people and should be treated with the same respect and rights as a person in a heterosexual marriage. They aren’t hurting these other people who are against it, so they feel it shouldn’t bother them.
On the other hand there are those who are totally against same-sex marriages. Most of these people are against it because of religious beliefs, or others may feel uncomfortable about two men or women together. In certain cultures youth are taught that homosexuality is wrong, and if you are gay in one of these communities it is shunned upon to be open about it because it is not accepted in these societies. It has even gone as far as people murdering a person because they are openly gay. Because of this pressure, there are many people living lies out there, with a wife and children - but really are gay. This is unfortunate, but is the way of most societies. These people against same-sex marriages do not see gay people as beings that are equal to a straight person, and therefore do not treat them with much or any...
