What is Safety Training?
The number of workplace fatalities has dropped significantly (by more than 60 percent) in the last 35 years despite the increase in workers and job sites in part because of the increase in workplace safety training and government regulations requiring companies to make employees aware of workplace dangers through safety training, which is an OSHA-regulated requirement. Safety training teaches employees how to prevent and respond to work-related illness and injury, through a variety of different means, including on-the-job safety equipment training and weekend seminars or a video during employee orientation. Training should include proper use of equipment, appropriate storage of equipment and materials, how to handle hazardous materials, report injuries and problems, and how to respond to injuries on the job. Unfortunately, ineffective workplace safety policies can lead to an increase in workers compensation claims.

High Voltage and/or Line Powered Equipment

Introduction
Consumer electronic equipment like TVs, computer monitors, microwave ovens, and electronic flash units, use voltages at power levels that are potentially lethal. Even more so for industrial equipment like lasers and anything else that is either connected to the power line or uses or generates high voltage.
Normally, these devices are safely enclosed to prevent accidental contact. However, when troubleshooting, testing, making adjustments, and during repair procedures, the cabinet will likely be open and/or safety interlocks may be defeated. Home-built or modified equipment, despite all warnings and recommendations to the contrary - could exist in this state for extended periods of time - or indefinitely. Depending on overall conditions and your general state of health, there is a wide variation of voltage, current, and total energy levels that can kill.
