How does Shakespeare use dramatic devices in act 3 scene 1 of
Romeo and Juliet in order to make such an interesting, exciting and important scene?
The Capulets and Montegues are two noble families, both of these family have been fighting for a long time, at the start of the play two servants to the Capulets (Sampson and Gregory) and two Montague servants (Abraham and Balthazar), and fighters Benvolio of the Montague’s tries to stop the fight, but Tybalt from the capulets gets involved with the fighting. Prince Escalus then arrives and warns both families that anyone fighting will be punished by death. Later on in the play Benvolio and Romeo crash a Capulet ball that has been arranged by lord Capulet. Tybalt find out who they are and vows to get revenge for there intrusion. This is where Romeo first meets Juliet and kisses her at the Ball. And they decide to get married the next day. After they are both married Romeo is challenged to a fight by Tybalt. Romeo refuses as he is now related to Tybalt. This is the start of Act 3 scene 1
At the end of the play Romeo and Juliet are so madly in love that they both die together to spend forever with each other.
I think This play fits into the tragedy genre for two reasons. Firstly Because Romeo and Juliet can never have a normal life together, because there families are such rivals and are always fighting. Secondly Both Romeo and Juliet die for each other to stop the fighting between there two families.
Historical concept and setting
This play was written in 1595 by an author named Shakespeare. he set this play in Italy, I believe that the play was set in Italy as an Elizabethan audience associated passion and love with there country.
Act 3, Scene 1 makes it an interesting, exciting and important scene because so much happens in a short space of time which in turn affects all the characters in one way or another....
