The potential replacements considered in this proposal are Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Vista Ultimate. Each network operating system description will include the networking capabilities, security, availability of technical support, system stability, cost and the systems disadvantages. The conclusion will suggest which operating system would be most beneficial for the future growth of Riordan.
Vista Ultimate
The Windows Vista Ultimate is a robust operating system with many new added features. This operating system is ideal for mid-sized businesses. The benefits include the ability to easily shift from screen to screen. For business purposes some of the strengths consist of improved document sharing and networking support. Most importantly, Vista Ultimate comes with an advanced layered security protection. This will make unwanted intrusions such as Spyware and viruses nearly impossible to infiltrate the network.
Networking
The new networking features Windows Vista has to offer are included in the Network and Sharing Center. This center allows the administrator to be in control of the network as well as the ability to conveniently check your connection status. The most beneficial is the visual map of your network. With this functionality, you are able to easily troubleshoot networking issues.
