Riordan Manufacturing is a company which prides itself on their product as well as their relationship with their customers. With locations in San Jose, CA, Albany, CA, Pontiac, MI, and as far as Hangzhou, China, the company is able to provide services to customers all over the world. Riordan manufactures assorted plastic items including plastic bottles, fans, medical devices (i.e. stints) and many other custom plastic pieces. With distributed locations and an increase in orders, Riordan is considering ways to strengthen the communication through its supply chain. A need exists throughout each location to ensure quality service and on time deliveries to customers. Developing a standardized way of communication will assist Riordan in uniting the locations and allow them the opportunity to work together in tracking and shipping their inventory and products, ensuring the best possible product and turnaround time to keep up with high demand and increase their business.
A service request has been issued which requested the needs and guidelines for tracking materials. Orders, shipments, and finished products must be tracked throughout the following process. Riordan purchases raw material to make plastic bottles from Brooks Chemical Supply. These raw materials are then shipped using Huffman Trucking Company to Riordan's Albany, Georgia plant. Once Riordian manufactures the finished product, Huffman Trucking will ship orders to Bickford Organic Juices. Bickford then uses the plastic bottles to package organic juice products and this is the last step in the chain. All four companies agreed that the tracking program would benefit them as well and will comply with the new program.
