Reasons to Sample
Aaron Anderson anticipates that a high percentage of small business customers will leave unless USA World Bank develops a rewards-based credit card, (UOP, n.d.). However, Anderson based his assumptions based on feedback through online surveys, which may not be and adequate sample of the small customer base. In order to gain a more accurate view of customer opinion, Anderson should obtain feedback from each segment of the customer base. Therefore, Anderson could use this scenario as one reason to sample customer feedback. Unfortunately, gathering feedback from all customers would be very time-consuming. Therefore, determining an acceptable sample of customers is the most effective approach. Using sampling methods offers several benefits. Selecting a sampling saves time and money, because gathering feedback from all customers would be very time-consuming and cost of the study would be expensive (Lind, et al., 2004). In addition, Anderson may be unable to receive feedback from all customers; therefore, a random sampling of customers representing the small customer base should suffice.
World Bank measured survey results based on responses to customer feedback. If the survey questions were worded differently, the responses could allow for a graphical presentation of the survey and focus group data (UOP, n.d.). Graphical presentations of data appear in the form of line charts, bar charts, pie charts, and dot plots. Instead, the bank chose to output the results using descriptive data, which is difficult to draw a graphical correlation.
